CSV Upload

New to Drift or just trying to add some new contacts? We makes it easy to transfer your data over!

Simply upload your CSV file into your contacts. Here’s how to do it...

Select Upload ContactClick on the contacts tab of your left sidebar on your Drift account. This will bring you to the page of all your contacts. On the top of right of this page, there is a button with a downward facing arrow.

Click this button and select Upload Contact from the drop down menu.

Upload CSV File Once you click Upload Contact, you will be brought to a page with a light gray field in the middle. Either drag and drop your CSV file into this field OR click on it and manually select the file you wish to upload.

Please note that the CSV file uploaded must have a column for email or userID.

Map Columns to Attributes

The data read from the file will be listed in a table below the title Map Columns to Attributes. This will list the column title, a preview of the data in that column, and the associated Drift attribute.

Check that the columns in your file are aligned with the proper Drift attributes. They may be auto matched, just double check for accuracy! If a column does not correspond to a Drift attribute, it will default to unchecked.

Any column or Drift Attribute can be manually changed. Columns can be checked or unchecked by clicking the box to the far left of the table. Attributes can be edited through the drop down menu under the title Drift Attributes. Either click the downward facing arrow to expand the menu or click the “X”, clearing the text field and allowing you to type the name of the attribute.

Any unmatched and unchecked columns will be ignored when it comes time to import.

Finish ImportOnce you are happy with your attribute, click the green Finish Import button on the top right corner of your screen to upload your data to your contacts.

You’ll get an email from us once your CSV is uploaded completely. Depending on the size of the file this might take a little bit of time. Once everything is uploaded, you will be able to access all of this new data in the Contacts page.

If there’s an error with your upload, we’ll send you an email with with a new CSV of these errors, so you can adjust them and re-upload. The email will explain what’s going on.
