Install Drift on your Website (JavaScript)

Here's how to install Drift on your marketing website

  1. If you have a Drift account, your JavaScript snippet can be found here. Grab your javascript snippet from the "Install" section and follow along with the video below!
  2. If you don't have a Drift account and received your snippet in an e-mail, skip to the second half of the video below. Once the code is installed, you can verify that the installation was successful by heading over to your app. The Drift widget should be in the bottom right hand corner! Once it is, your Drift account holder can log back in, click "I'll Install Myself", and finish the set up.

FAQ

I'm having trouble with the verification step - what do I do?

If you're trying to verify that Drift is installed but you're having trouble, make sure you go through to the final step (https://app.drift.com/install/verify). That page should look like this:

If you definitely have the chat widget installed and it's not fully verifying, click "VERIFY" any way and then close the window that pops up. You'll now see a "Skip" button next to the "Back" button that you can click to move to the final step of installation.

Will it slow down my website?

It will not. Once the javascript tag is installed on your site, the Drift Widget will be loaded asynchronously. This means it won’t slow down your page or prevent users from interacting with your site. Drift also utilizes a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to ensure that the Drift Widget is downloaded as efficiently as possible no matter where in the world your users are coming from.
